shot of the ear contest
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words.

It's true one picture can say everything that has to be said about any subject. So are you in a
shot which speaks volumes about this game and all that it has to say?   Would the shot of the
year be one of a team celebrating ? Would it be a shot of a little boy struggling to hold his
older brother's helmet after a game?

Nobody knew what to expect...... When the nominations came for this one that's when our staff
rolled up their sleeves and really started to battle, there were so many good nominations to
consider.

In this case we decided not to show the honorable mentions simply because for some that
would be nothing more than torment  for this highly coveted category.

We'll simply give you the winning shot and tell you why it won.

SHOT OF THE YEAR

2009 SHOT OF THE YEAR

While it was agreed that it was a
great winner for that category it was
also successfully argued that the
shot should be given the best tackle
shot of the year even though it wasn't
nominated for the category.  After all
look at the effort which the Canarsie
defender is exerting in order to make
the tackle.

Someone on the staff even
championed the shot for the category
of best Airborne shot of the year
since both players had taken to the
air in order to obtain their goals. But
his position was quickly battered
down by the other two opinions which
were strongly entrenched by this time
( are we having fun yet? )
Finally in the midst of this chaos someone noted that the truth is that the entire shot is a great
representation of exactly what the game of football is all about.

No arguments there. And so this 2008  match-up between The Canarsie Chiefs and James
Madison's knight's wins the bid for shot of the Year because the shot shows effort, exertion
and struggle on the part of the running back who has left his feet to get that extra inch and it
shows the same effort of the defender who also has given his all in stopping the ball carrier.
